CB750F from Massachusetts
« on: February 07, 2009, 05:57:17 AM »
My first bike was an 80 CB750F DOHC.  It was a great bike but in tough shape when I sold it to a friend so I could buy a liter bike.  I owned several bikes over the years then a few years back my brother asked me if I wanted his 78 CB750F, I declined but offered to get her running so we could sell it.  I picked it up with a trailer as she had been sitting for many years in the corner of his garage.  He had worn out two CB750's before he bought this one, but life got in the way and he had stopped riding this one.  When I picked it up it looked pretty good for a 25 year old, but needed some work.  She only had 3300 miles on the clock so I cleaned her up, changed out a few parts and she fired right up.
I took her for a test ride to make sure I had gotten it right and it was like I was riding a time machine.  Wow, what a ride!  I knew right then that I had to have this bike.  I called my brother right after the test ride and he was so happy that I was hooked that he gave her to me!
Anyway that was a few years ago.  I don't ride my CB750F all that much, but when I do I always get that feeling.  It's time to get her ready for another season so I did a search and was glad to find this site as I'd like to keep my CB750F ready for a ride, any time I want to feel young again!

I know just what you mean.  Getting on the '78 750K is just so much fun.  I changed to small handlebars and it took me back to 1976 and riding a Suzuki 380gt triple cafe racer.  What a rush.  Welcome to the newcomers club....Kerry.
intrigued by the wail...seduced by the scream.

Welcome from Vermont.  I have a 78F as well.  It is in small piles around my shop at this moment but it will have a new life this spring.  It's having some "cosmetic surgery".  I talked to some chap here a while ago and he suggested a New england Honda gathering/ride when the rain stops this spring.  I'm all for it.  Anyone?
"Sure, if you don't want that bike in your backyard, I guess I'll take it."  "I'll probably just scrap it......"
