the first place i will look for electrical shorts
« on: June 16, 2009, 07:55:49 PM »
my bike started misfiring like it was running on M80's and losing power( all of it).. i thought it could be anything from a hole in the piston to broken cam chain to carb malfunction and i thought maybe electrical seeing as my keyless ignition switch wasnt working( a switch relocated by the back left cover) i never would have guessed it was just a short this bike ran terrible.... long story short it was a short just inside the fuse holder... the yellow arrows are where the wire insulation melted and shorted out,, the puke color is how it was laying before i discovered it and the red is what the lead looked like it was so hot it broke the solder connection. the blue is what a uncorrupted one looks like... i ended up resoldering the red wire to the spare fuse spot and the bike got all its power back i was amazed it was only electrical... so if your bikes shorting out and you cant find it i would check out inside the fuse holder

Very nice Fishhead! CB750fbomb, What's that fuse box you're talking about? Any links to it?
