Comstar CX500 Rear Wheel 16"
« on: November 21, 2008, 04:19:31 PM »
Hey all, found this while surfing for some parts for a new project...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Motorcycle-Parts-Accessories__Honda-CX500-Rear-Wheel-Comstar-16-Hub-Axle_W0QQitemZ260300714015QQadiZ2863QQadnZMotorcycleQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item260300714015&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A543|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Does anyone have any clue if it will directly bolt-on to a '77 cb550 swing arm?  If not, what modification is needed?  I'm not worried about the brake, etc - I need to make all new linkages for the new pegs anyhow.

Thanks

fuzzybutt

Thats the same wheel the 650 customs use but in chain drive.  Someone here has put them on a 550.
PM me if you want one or a set.

In the thread entitled, Nighthawk wheels on 75 CB750F   Member 754 mentioned the fact that most shaft drive wheels have a drive collar that you can unbolt from the wheel, and replace with a custom fabricated sprocket carrier, which can be one solid piece, without a cush drive, with no worry for cracking the wheel.   I'd read somewhere on a chopper forum that people were using shafty wheels with a chain, but never knew how until then.
