Bottom Crankcase Plate/Gasket
« on: November 22, 2008, 03:26:45 PM »
 :D  Hi Guys,

I have a 1974 CB750........ K4....... mileage just now going over 30,000........... this will be the first time I have done this  :P

Going to pull the crankcase plate on the bottom of the engine when I do the next oil change........... cleanup everything down there........ the oil pump screen, blah, blah, blah.

I have a new cork gasket from Honda.  Should I use a sealant on the parts?  Apply to engine or plate; or gasket?  If so, what brand/type would you recommend?

Thanks in advance for input. :D

I dunno that the Oil pan gasket needs anything on it. I don't use anything on mine.

Avoid Silicone if at all possible. It makes worms and migrates if overused.

Little bits of silcone are great at plugging oil passages.

Three bond 1194 works as does Yamabond if you want to use sealant.
