Hello all. I posted a pic of my first bike several weeks ago in the new members introduction page. I wanted to return and post the new progress on our little project now.

You can see my buddy who helped a lot with the work. He used to write for a motorcycle publication in India before coming here to train as a pilot. You can google his articles if you google Joshua Crasto.

We added Euro bars and bar ends, pod filters, relocated the battery, repainted the tank Cobalt Blue, put on new grips, and cleaned and repainted the engine after a rebuild and valve job.

Running great for the whole 5 miles I go to work. We still need to finish up the side panels and decals and I wouldn't mind getting a different seat (low priority).

Nice work on your bike. Sharp! Got a question, maybe you or someone can help. When you removed the left side engine cover,( shown in your pictures) was there any oil surrounding the stator, and if so, is this normal? I have both a CL and a CB360. Both have oil behind this cover and I'm not sure if this is a concern.

It was there on mine. It even drained a bit after we had the engine open and the bike on its kick while it sat overnight. It seemed normal at the time and there has been no indication as it not being normal since. I have had no problems with it either before or after.

Yes, that is normal.  Anytime you take that cover off be sure to have a bowl underneath.

Thanks. I ordered Cobalt Blue that is made from a shop in California. Depending on how much light hits it though to the naked eye a lot of purple starts to come through on really sunny days. It is a candy style paint so that may be some reasoning behind it? I do not know a lot about paint and in the pics it looks exactly the shade I wanted. I like it though.
