CB550 Oil Pump Mystery Pin
« on: January 20, 2009, 06:28:50 PM »
So just when I was getting comfortable working on my '75 CB550 I do something like this.  I was rebuilding the oil pump due to the usual leaky o-ring and in the process, a small cylindrical pin fell into my oil pan (of course while I was looking elsewhere) and I have no idea where it came from.  I looked in the Clymer manual and it doesn't mention it anywhere.  Anyone have a clue where this could have come from?

It locates the inner rotor to the pump shaft.

It goes through the shaft inside the pump. The small rotor that turns inside the pump fits down over the shaft and the pin. The pin holds this rotor in place....give it some time...you'll be able to figure it out

The pump don't turn without it.
Pull inner rotor off and you can see the recess it fits into
