My K8/sidecar build

The plan is to tear down my 750 to freshen things up and then hook it to the sidecar so my 4 year old and I can ride together. 



Planned mods

K6 tank
New seat of some sort still figuring that one out
Powder coat the frame/swingarm and wheels
Polish the engine covers
A fresh coat of paint on the engine
replace the leaking cam pucks
new chain and sprockets
Dual disc front brakes
Gorden's frame mod
Clean up the electrical
maybe chop the fenders some and powder coat them

Here is the powder I'm planning on using for the frame/swingarm and wheels...



Didn't take long to get here...

Getting it torn down... Hopefully I can get the engine out tomorrow  ;D

I had the same idea as you about hooking a chair onto my 750 K7 to take the wife and kids out.

Wifes not to keen though. In the summer I had my first go on a combo a K100/Watsonian. Easier than I thought to ride and I thought it was great.

Working on the wife.

Great idea keep up the good work :)

Great idea, build my own chair in 1985 from the ground up and hooked it to a CB900 and rode it for 5 years, sold it and still hangs on a Guzzi. If you're interested can scan pic's of the build.

Please do not laugh, it was more than 20 years ago! See what you think:










Just a few pic's to give a overall idea, had a lot of fun with it, though not exactly the most suitable bike. Did manage to do 110mph on the French highway just before running out of petrol, with wife and kid and full camping package.

Beautiful craftsmanship voxonda!  That's a nice old 900f too.

XN, Is that an oven in your garage?  Do you do your own powder coating?  If so have you been doing it long and does the oven work well?  I'd like to do the same thing but not sure if I could talk the wife into putting a "spare" oven in the garage.

Yep it is and yep it works great. Watch out it get's addictive. I can't paint for crap, but I can throw the smackdown on some powder  ;D I have not done any in a while I've been working on a new powder boot and don't have it finished yet.

Don't laugh? Heck I'm in awe... Most guys don't have the stones to wing something like that up. Nice work! What was the shaft and bearings on the rear of the subframe for?

Dude...major props to both of you...XN to building such a rig and more then likely letting your son have a hand in its creation. Vox for creating such a nice set up...If it wasnt an F im building from i would more then likely be following your example....

Got the engine out  ;D

Also got a set of K6 wheels I will use from my neighbor. Got the tires off and will break them down soon.




Frame marked for cuts.




I used a tubing cutter to mark a straight line.




Marked for the second cuts...



Working on test fitting...

I got my frame kit all welded up, then it went to the sandblasters and just got it coated.

It wasn't too bad. I watched a couple of u-tube videos and read a couple of threads here. Once I found the pattern it was pretty easy, probably could have done the whole thing in 20 minutes except for 4 spokes pointing the wrong direction making me have to remove some spokes to get them turned around. Kinda fun actually  ;D

Time for a bump up. It seems I've spent more time waiting for parts than working on the bike. I finally got that 60* day so I could paint my engine. So hopefully things will start to get bolted back together. I still have to powder coat the covers on the engine, but I can do that in the frame now being I have one of Gordan's frame kits  ;D

Finally got my motor back in the frame. Still have to powder coat the engine covers and some other parts, but finally I can start making some visual progress!  ;D
