You gotta pull the leg out of the trees
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

What does "you have to pull the legs out of the trees mean"?

you have to remove the wheel and brakes and fender.  Then loosen the bolts that clamp that fork into the upper and lower triple clamps, then slide that fork down and out of the triple clamps.

Get a manual and read it, owning an old motorcycle demands that one become motorcycle literate at times.  Besides knowing what the parts are called, you'll know what the heck we're all babbling on about here in these forums.

Many different types of old motorcycles have a way of turning ordinary people into mechanics.

Welcome!

OK, here's the front suspension section from an early CB750 shop manual, it'll help you understand what's involved.  Look for links here in these forums to download some shop manuals, maybe you'll get lucky and find one for your bike.

Here's a link to a boatload of manuals I just discovered in another thread, sorry I forgot to note which member to give credit to...

So Thanks to whoever originated this link, we'll all get tons of use from this one.

The point is there's a 1975 cb125 manual there.  Check it out and download the file.
Cheers!
