Bleeding the M/C?
« on: October 07, 2005, 05:43:41 PM »
I tried bleeding my brakes using the line where it connects to the Caliper, (I have no bleeder valve).  It would start to work and then just go limp again.  I never actually built up enought pressure to move the piston in the caliper.  Any Ideas where I should start.  Maybe bleeding the Master Cylinder first?  If so how does that work.

You can disconnect the m/c and put your finger over the end and pump until you build up pressure. Then let some of it relieve by moving your finger a bit. But I doubt there's a lot of air trapped inside the m/c. You can put the bike on it's sidestand, and tie the brake lever back and leave it for a day or two. The air should migrate up and out thru the return hole in the m/c
If you are in the U.S., bring your caliper over to a NAPA, and have their machine shop drill out the broken bleeder and insert a new one.
I've done that on a couple of occasions. cost me less than $10 each time.
