homemade bike lift
« on: November 29, 2008, 01:06:28 PM »
well you kinda gotta have access to some pipe steel, and of coarse a welder.  but this thing works like a charm.  no new idea's here.  just my take on something that already existed, i just kinda simplified it . i'd be happy to give the measurements on this thing  ...   but if your gonna make it, you mostly already know how to use a tape measure

i think it's pretty self explanatory but i will happily go into detail if someone wants

i would sell them , but it's kinda big and weighs about 15-20 lbs so the shipping would be nothing nice

A loop or handle at the end would make lowering the bike a little easier, too.

Great concept.

What are you using for jack points on the bike?

About using one in the back, can you put it up on both at the same time? and are there issues with it pulling or sliding the front one back as you put it up?

i dont use them both at the same time, that would be far to risky for me to attempt

as you see in the video it does pull the bike forward

Here's the one I use: http://www.sportster.org/tech/rickko-lift/
I don't have any welding equipment so it was perfect for me. I use it on my Sportster and my 550 and it works a treat, although that massive block of wood is a bit cumbersome.
