5. Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse from garden.

6. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat.   Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

13. Tie the little bastard's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tight ly to leg of dining table , find heavy-duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of filet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of water down throat to wash pill down.

14. Consume remainder of scotch. Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye.   Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.

My older cat takes Enalapril every day for her heart. No problems here although I occasionally I find it on the floor after I'm certain she's swallowed it. It's like she cheekin' it as though she were in an institution getting ready to make her break. Think One Who Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Fuzz, what joint sup are ya giving your critter? My older one has some clicky joints and I'm thinking supplements might help.

I have one of these, looks a bit different than this one but does the same thing. Of course, I hear those Siamese can be, uh... high maintenance.  ;D

Try these guys.

It might be a pain to give a pill but it sure is funny when the cat has a thermometer up its butt and it tries to slink away! ;D
Saw that at a vet once.

How can you tell the difference between an oral and rectal thermometer?

hamish is getting cosequin, it's basically glucosamine/chondriotin for cats. you get it from the vet. dont use the people version or the one for horses.  it's made a world of difference in him.

My father was a veterinarian, watched him give hundreds of pills to cats.

He would put the pill in HIS mouth
Grab a bit of skin behind the cats head and pull it's head back
Pry the cats mouth open with a pencil (eraser end)
Spit the pill into the cats mouth
Shove the pill into the cats gullet with the pencil eraser

Above one smooth motion, about 2 seconds. Before the cat knew wtf was happening.
