CB450 carbs on a 750
« on: December 16, 2008, 04:50:18 PM »
Has anyone heard of this (or seen it)?  I remember seeing an article (70's era) dealing with improved carbs for 750s that have head work done.  Of course they mentioned CRs and a few others, but the one that suprised me was using carbs from a CB450.  It mentioned that some mods would be required, as would be with most any carb swap.

I thought it was interesting, and could maybe be a better alternative for us thrifty (or cheap) modders.  I think the article was here ???

The CB450 carbs were an early version of a CV carb.  They also used a 2 into 1 throttle cable assembly.  They were connected together only to actuate the choke butterfly.

In order to install four of them on a CB750, you'd have to come up with a 4-1 throttle cable assembly and figure out some way of connecting together all of the choke assemblies.

Even after that, I can't imagine that they would be much of a performance improvement.  Any of the people that I know that race CB450's in vintage racing replace the CV carbs with some Mikunis.
