« on: November 29, 2008, 04:10:26 AM »
Hi to all
I've got a sad looking yellow  400/4 thats desparately need tlc .

What are peoples view of turning her into a cafe racer??
Is it blasphemous or welcome?

Anyway back to me, Im an artist who lives in High Wycombe I love bikes of all types but I need to get to grips with mechanics as my 400/4 is a basket case in my garage.
Ill keep you posted with regards to her restoration.
Cheers

You want to build a bike for yourself, then do it!
dont worry about what other folk think, build this bike to your wants and likes.
but remember this forum demands pictures, so dont forget your camera lol

we don't discriminate around here for bad taste jk. if they did they would've kicked me out by now. i mean if we all rode the same bike that would be lame. i kinda like the cafe look, but those low bars are murder on my wrist. build what you want to ride, make it your own, then get out there and ride it with pride knowing that there's only one just like that.
1980 cb650c first bike i owned now the wife's ride.           1982 xv920j virago, bike i learned to ride on rescued it from a 13 year coma (sitting in the shed) now she runs beautifully and rides like a dream.

Hi Rich.

High Wycombe Bucks?

That's two from SE England in one day. Check out "Skunkmiester" from Sandhurst.

I say go for a cafe look. Those 400s look really cool (unless of course you are 6'6" and 16 stone...)

What sort of artist?

We need pictures!

Pop in to www.sohc.co.uk and join the UK Chapter. Looks the same (same S/W), some of the same people and mostly UK.

Welcome.  I have mixed feelings about the cafe thing.  I have a real problem with someone taking a nearly whole bike and turning it into something else.  But if it is a basket case, why not?  The other thing is that my back doesn't do well bent over.  If you can ride like that, more power to ya'.  I would just be jealous. ;D ;D
Go metric, every inch of the way!
