Will an F1 750 rear master fit an F3?
« on: December 02, 2008, 09:38:53 AM »
The reservoir on the earlier rear master is part of the master, rather than remote. Would there is clearance issues? Are the mounting bolt patterns the same? Anybody ever try this? If it works, does anyone know why the design of the master was changed?

Thanks,

Patrick

The rear master changed during the '75 run. It had a nylon type reservoir for the first 10,000+ units then went to a sold aluminum unit for the last 1/3 of '75 and all of '76. I would assume the 77/78 master was less expensive to manufacture and you coud replace components rather than complete units.  I have my doubts about interchangability between 75/76 & 77/78.

I think you're right Jerry, The 75/76 F's also had a different rear caliper.

I know for sure that the master cyl. on the 77/78 F's are the same, as well as the caliper. But don't know if the earlier built in resivoir type will fit.

I had a feeling that might be too easy, since I found one locally in working condition....
