Finally started working on my 550.  It looked a heap when I bought it, with a rusty luggage rack bolted to it and unpainted plastic panniers bolted to that.  I've unmounted and scrapped all of that, moved it into the garage, and have it mostly disassembled all over the floor.  Hurray for beer and wrenches!

I'm rather hoping that I can get it up and running before spring hits.  Until then every free moment (and dollar) is going to be spent in the garage with it.  I rather think that the bike only needs new rubber and not to have any bits lost before it'll be road-worthy.

The pipes on it were rusted through completely, so I scrapped them before I really thought it over, now I'm beginning to regret that decision.  I bought a temp-fix 4 into 1 set from a local shop, but I'd rather have the original 4 into 4, or a 4 into 2 kit.

Cheers!

Carl

Quite a few of us Oregonians here! The real experts are up in Portland... I'm about halfway (lol, in lots of ways) in Beaverton. :)
