replacing carbs rubber tubes?
« on: December 04, 2008, 05:01:27 am »
so since they aren't available any more, what do you guys use??  just rubber fuel line?  any links for a place to get some nice durable stuff, or just hit up the local hardware store?  thanks a lot, dying to get this thing running WITHOUT the fear of needing a fire extinguisher ;)  do you think silicone line would hold the gas and not deteriorate? I use to use that stuff as vacuum line on my old turbo saab....

For the fuel pipe, standard automotive 5.5mm i/d 10mm o/d pipe is best.

The 6mm i/d 10mm o/d works as well (and is a lot more common)

I think that's the same.

There's another post on here somewhere asking about the overflow pipes - they are different!

I'm confused  ??? do you mean fuel line, or the carb boots that go between the carbs and motor, if its the second you might check hondapartsdirect. I got my new jazzy velocity stacks from there, they are what goes into the airbox and attach to the ends of the carbs. They are nice and flexible too ;) :D

the 4 small diameter lines going between the carbs.  I had already looked on bikebandit and others and they are not available.  got some fuel line today and it should work great :)  at least it won't catch fire again (quickly knocks on wood!!!)  thanks guys!

I just ordered a set for a 69 KO from western hills honda a few weeks ago.

Edit:  I guess your talking fuel lines and not the boots.

Hobby shops dealing with fuel engine powered cars or planes have small diameter fuel line that is the correct size for these connector hoses. It is a silicon compound, and generally comes only in bright "neon" colours. After a long soak in gasoline it doesn't show any degradation, plus these hoses are really only vents anyway and don't carry fuel. Sonce they are between the carbs they are not visible with the carbs mounted so the colour not a problem IMO.

I went to my local Honda Dealer and ordered fuel line as well as carb overflow lines.  I had to educate the parts counter guy to the fact that he was indeed able to order it from Honda.
