Topic: Stock 750 shift lever too small for my size 12 boots!

Is there a longer shift lever that will fit the CB's splines (but won't hit the dyno housing) ?

Yep designed for little japanese people, my dirt bike is that same way, but I'm only 5' 10" and is not as much of a prob. for my. I Father has told me stories of guys chopping their shift pedals and brake pedals and lengthening them to fit biger feet, atleast that could be an option for you.

I have size 12 boots to but I do not have a problem getting to the shifter. My issue is that the boots are so thick, I sometimes miss the shift cause I cant feel anything with my toes. Hiking boots solve this nicely though.

Just curious, how does it pose problems for you as-is? My gunboats are size 13 (a petite 13 grant you ) and I have no problems.

+1 I have size 12 paratrooper boots and have never had a problem shifting on a CB750...are you sure you have a stock shifter?

I'm constantly catching my toe as I try to jam my foot under the lever.
Also, I have to hold the front of my foot up while crusing or else it comes to rest on top of the shifter causing ugly grinding noises from the tranny....


the more I think about it... maybe moving the peg back might work better.

I guess here's one difference in riding position, personal taste I guess, I ride with my toe under the lever, it avoids accidental down-shift.

Could your lever have been put on the splines at the wrong angle?

I can't ride like that for long  unless I sit waaaay forward - like on the tank.
I tried raising the shifter up a notch but then I practically have to lift my foot up to do a down-shift.
I have long legs, too. That's why I'm stating to think moving the peg back might be better. I could sit farther back (so my knees aren't at my ears) and have more room for my feet...

I wear a size 14 and I ride with my toe under the lever, never had a problem. I am also 6'5" with very long legs.

What handlebars are you running? changing handlebar height causes you to lean forward or backward which changes the angle you feet are on the pegs. height and weight are also a factor in foot position. If you look at modern sport bikes a lot of them have adjustable foot peg and handlebar heights because moving one usually requires moving the other.

I'm gonna work on moving the pegs back. Too bad rear sets are so $$$$$

I think there is a poor mans rearset fix but not sure.  Trading sides for the stock foot pegs (left on the right and right on the left) but there may be some small mod you will still need to do.

I pulled my shift lever..and reinstalled a notch or two higher,  has a slightly higher angle.  helped some..

I only mentioned the bar thing as it dramatically alters riding position.

   When I read the title of this thread I thought I might be able to offer some advice, but I see that my 11.5 shoe size and nominal 6' height leave my on the cusp of the world of freakyness you guys inhabit. For what it's worth, when out of town/city whilst cruising about my foot is further back on the peg away from the shifter. It's only a split second to get it where it needs to be if necessary.

Totally agree, no different than driving a stick, foot stays on the pedal even when up 1st through third but by the time you get to 4th foot goes on the dead pedal until needed to go into 5th...  Same concept when shifting, hold it there until 5th but then just relax...

Yep - me too. wonder what it would take to get a shifet to reach back that far
