Help w/ Carb Hoses 76 F
« on: December 04, 2008, 12:14:38 PM »

The two nipples in the middle, do I join them with a hose or do they each get their own and vent to atmosphere or what?
Thanks
Scott

If you're talking about the overflow nipples on the bottom of the carb, each gets its own tube which routes to the bottom side of the bike by the swingarm.

Nope, not the nipples on the bowls.  The two nipples that are on the 2 and 3 carbs dead center in the picture.  They are angled up.  They are in line with the short tubes that connect carbs 1 and 2 and carbs 3 and 4.

And while I've got the floor am I missing a rod between carbs 2 and 3 for the throttle return spring to hook on to?

Thanks again

you have early style carbs, the petcock for these carbs had 2 nipples and 1 hose ran off each nipple to the nipples on the carbs.if your petcock has 1 nipple, you can tee it and run 2 hoses that way or better yet, sell me the carbs. ;)

you appear to be missing the bracket the throttle spring connects to and if im not mistaken it also has the idle adjustment screw on it too.

Have to correct you, Dusterdude, the two nipples in the middle, dead center in the picture, they each get their own and vent to atmosphere. The nipples in between 3&4 and 1&2 are for fuel feed lines.

That is what I just figured, thanks.  My local dealer had one in for repairs and I was able to check it out.  The nipples go to atmosphere and the spring goes to a plate held between the 2 and 3 carbs.

Thanks all.

That loose piece below the carbs with the hole fits into/between #2 & #3 in the same unused recess/openings the nipples you speak of fit into between #2 and #3. The hole is for the spring.
