Brake stopper bar-'78cb750k out of flat stock-how thick?
« on: December 02, 2008, 12:18:24 PM »
Since the stock piece went out, I thought I'd go with something heavier and better looking. Any ideas on thickness for the flat stock?

Probably the doohicky that goes from the swingarm to the brake housing?  That could look pretty cool with some drilled steel or polished aluminum.

yeah, that's it. Carpy does a billet one that's finned. I just went with an 1 inch thick piece-should be thick enough considering the stock brake stopper arm (as it's called in the manual) looks to be made of swingset parts!

I used a piece of aluminum flat stock from the
hardware store, 1' x 1/4'. I drilled some speed holes
and polished it up, looks great!

I would go with the 1/4 in thick. You might be able to do thinner, I am erring on the side of safety. I think some nice polished stainless steel might be nice but aluminum polished and clear coated would be killer.

Hey Number 13, Why don't you shave a few minutes out of your hair styling time and polish some of the rust off of that nut?  :)
