Bad Idea I had Once
« on: December 06, 2008, 07:07:42 AM »
Had a lot of extra bike parts around (still do)
and I thought braking at the motor would be cool.--Looked cool , anyway.
Lovejoys and disc are kept from turning by
one keyway each,.
Keyway on the disc stripped out on initial run--creating a problem !

Heh, yup way too much torque for that sort of thing.  Nice try though :)

I would recommend a solid shaft from the lovejoy to the disk brake.

Don't you have a lathe tucked away with that little(302?) dream under your workbench?

What is this setup off of?
Is that your rail rider?

Brake experiment was on an early version (longer & lower) of my tilting
electric 3-wheeler.

That thing looks cool. Is that a saw handle for a lever? Post some pics of it please.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

Yes, saw handle on the tilting tiller.
Right hand tiller steered it.
Disc brake didn't stop it !
Headlights turned with the wheels, of course.

wheels are easier to brake because if you press to hard they just lock up
brake at the motor and there is alot more torque
