I did a quick search but didn't see anything about drilling your rotor - is there a certain pattern you used? I really like the way it looks.

I love that seat bump.  Something about the way you could draw a line from the top of the tank to the top of the seat hump and the nice, smooth transition really, really does great things for that bike.

laminar.... I didn't drill the rotor it came on the bike. I plan on getting drilled in the same pattern. when i do i will post the specs on the pattern.

Kit... Thanks for the compliments. That was exactly what i was looking to do with the tail. I still need to add to the front of the tail so that it flows with the tank a little better.  if you lok at the first pic you can see what im talking about. it needs to be just a tad higher in the front of the hump.

It also uses the stock hinges and latch so that i can open it just like stock.

Looks great!

If I were you, I wouldn't sweat the powdercoat business.  If you are happy with it, then leave it be.

well i am happy with it for right now... i needed to get a bike to run around on and so the time frame that i had didnt allow me to powder coat it the way that i wanted. I am going to be doing a "round 2" build on the bike once me and my Fiance get married and get settled into a house and everything... for now... the bike is a ton of fun. And taking it to Daytona Bike week and Biketoberfest, its fun watching all the sport bike riders try to figure out if its a harley or not and watch all the harley guys try to figure out if its a sport bike or not... its rather fun.

So.... I decided that I didnt like how the seat that I was making was turning out.... I i tore it off ripped it up and threw it in the trash.......

I went and got me some new foam.... and started all over again on building the tail....

here is what the old one started looking like.....

I didnt like how it was too flat and didnt really have any curve to it....

So here is where I am at as of  last night on the new tail......

I am liking the lines of this one ALOT more than the last one.... I think that this one as it site right now is a little on the high side... So i will be taking about a 1/4 inch off the top of it and re- curving the rest of the tail to suit the lower height. all in all, I am much happier with the way that this one is going. I will post up some picture after I get it pretty much where I want it later today.

I think that today I am also going to run around and see if I can find some header wrap... I think it will add to the feel of the bike if i do say so myself....

I think I got the seat hump to the shape that I want now... I just layed on some drywall spackling and I am waiting for it to cure. Hopefully I will get it sanded down to where I like it tomorrow and begin fiberglassing....

Here are the pics you all love.....

Sprayed some flat black paint on the foam just to kinda get a feel for the look of it... Sorry for the crappy picture... It got dark out so there is crappy contrast.....

got some more work done on the bike the past couple of days....

Got the drywall spackle slopped onto the foam and sanded down.....

covered it in blue masking tape and coated it in wax then layed on 2 layers of fiberglass weave sanding between layers......

tomorrow, I will pull the mold out and add a couple layers of chop strand mat to the back of it for strength. then let the sanding and filling begin........

Midnight08, I just found your thread and read it cover to cover.  You've done a great job - especially given the amount of $ (or lack thereof) you've put into it!  The tail section is very helpful to see how you've put it together - thanks for the tutorial!  Have fun at Bike Week.
