If so than your back tire seems to be on backwards.

if you want me to take a picture of the directional arrows.... I will. rear is mounted correctly. most motorcycle tires the front is mounted opposite the rear.

Sorry to bug you again about this, but my question seems to have gotten lost in the mix...

What paint did you use on your valve cover?  I want powdercoat some pieces in a color close to that and need something to work with.

Thanks,

Matt

i apologize. its duplicolor "aluminum" engine paint. i like the color alot. i hope when i am able to do the build properly i will be able to find a powder coating in the same color.

So, it's actually designed to suck the rain into your tire instead of clear it out the sides? Dude, you live dangerously.  :D

Only someone from P-town would truly worry about this! ;)

No problem Midnight, kinda tough keeping up with every question in a long project thread, been there myself.

I had been looking at that very color at the local parts place.  I'm gonna try it on a test piece.

Since I have a powdercoating setup, I'm gonna try and match it.  If I get something close, I'll powdercoat some stuff for you real cheap.  My powdercoating supplier said that the closest match might be chrome powdercoat with a matte clear coat.  I have my doubts, but this guy is good and is on the up and up.  I have those powders in stock so I hope to try it out next month.

For my engine, I basically want to reverse your color scheme, ie black valve covers and aluminum colored head and cases

I'll let you know what I find out.

I think the mouse is correct. If those are Avon Roadriders, the front is on backwards....

I'm no pro, but I think your tire is on backwacks. . . . .

J/K.  Can't wait to see the progress you make on this.  The wheels turned out pretty good and look sweet with those tires.  I just subscribed.

It's supposed to be mounted that way.

I was just about to start a message asking the group 'whats the deal with AVONS'.  Here's a pic of mine with tires mounted in accordance to tire rotation marks.  Note it too has differing tread pattern.

some engineer has it all figured out and im not going to question it. The Roadriders have excellent wet and dry reviews. I have even heard of a guy that feels confident enough on them in the wet that he rides them in the snow....

oldrusty... The wheels turned out ok... they are by no means perfect. the paint wasnt happy sticking to them. I have to get a new outer rims sometime as the rims that are on them right now are pretty  rusty on the inside. When i do that i will have them and the hubs powdercoated.

J-conn... I havent spent that much money on the bike really at all. the most expensive part of the bike so far was the tires ($250 mounted and balanced.) all the other stuff that I have bought has all been under 100.

I am having some electrical issues going on right now... anyone that knows these bikes electrical systems pretty well, look up my thread in the SOHC/4 section.

Great looking build!  I'm working on a tear down myself and I'm very curious on how you are going to build your seat as I am looking at going that route myself.

well, I have gotten a majority of the bike back together. I had to verify every wire in the wiring harness by disassembling the whole thing doing resistance checks, then cleaning all the terminals and putting them back in with dialectric grease. some of the wires that are on the bike are not in the wiring schematic that i have and some are routed improperly... I will eventually just build my own harness...

The bike is about ready to fire.. Im finishing up working on the carbs... cdoggy.. I did a leak down test before installing the carbs...those o-rings that i told you about are leaking... so that is just about the only thing holding me up right now. I went to performance engine preperations here in gainesville. (great guys definitly recommend for any of your needs around gainesville area) and he is going to search his keihin carb parts boxes tonight for the right size nitril o-rings.

The bike has agood spark at all four cylinders....

I filled her up with blood ( Rotella T).. and have good oil pressure at cranking.

hopefully ill get those o-rings tomorrow and have her running by the weekend.

I will get some pics up for you guys sometime soon. and when i fire her up ill get the video up for you all as well.

tiretread... Thanks for the props... the seat will be fiberglass.. ill make sure to throw up some pics of the process for you to help out in your build.

definitely needs to be tuned and synced. the sync isn't THAT bad as i bench synced it before it went on the bike. I also need to figure out something with the cables because i think they are keeping the throttle from going back to full closed position. wo i have to give it a little twist forward on the push cable to get it to settle down. now i need to finish up the brakes, get new sprockets and chain, and take her for her maiden voyage. there are still a lot of little odds and ends that i will be taking care of (i.e. a mount for tach only setup, upgrading the headlight, relay's for the headlight, etc....) but that is stuff that can be taken care of as more money frees its self up... im just about cleaned out.
