So I pulled a 1973 Honda CB 350f out of my grandmothers garage a few months back. At the time I didn't have much hope for the bike at all. This bike was at one time my dads. He sold it to my uncle and my uncle sold it to my grandmother. "You would have to understand my grandmother." And she ended up giving it to me. While she might be the strongest of elderly she was not very good at storing motorcycles. She left it with a full gas tank. And must have thought that it made a good shelf because there was junk stacked to the ceiling on top of it. Once unburied here are the following problems I have found. The gas tank is full to the brim with rust, Ive kept it but I'm pretty sure there is no coming back for this one. The carbs do not move and one of the float ears "I don't know if thats the right term but its what I call it" are broken on one of the carbs. "that was my fault" It needs new brakes and a master cylinder rebuild. all brake and clutch cables will need to be repaced as well. Best I can tell my uncle must have thought that at one time the 350 needed ape hanger bars and no one switched the cables back when they took them off. New tires. and about a million hours with steel wool. I will have this bike done by march at the latest. I'm lucky enough that one of my best friends is a mechanic and lets me work and store the bike at his garage. I will try to get pictures asap. I have never rebuilt a bike before so this is all new and my terms are sloppy. To anyone that has done this before any and all advise is welcome and I take constructive criticism well if you think I might be doing something wrong please don't hold back.
