I'm HavocTurbo here and there as well. Just in case anyone here is selling this...

Just pulled my motor apart today...

Some bastard decided that JB Weld is a good thing.... Actually smoothed it out all around the back half of the cases. At first I thought it was dried mud.

Tack welded a STEEL patch in there with a crap load of JB Weld all around it. Seems to me that the chain broke (common problem I hear) and instead of getting an aluminum welder to fix it decided to permanently seal the cases shut.

I'll post pictures ASAP!!

BASTARDS!!!

So I found this on Ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=250341125181

Please no one bid on it..... I almost cried when I took this motor apart.

Oh and please move this to the appropriate place if you need to.

Well, I didn't really STUDY the ebay ad or the pictures - what's the problem there?  Why should nobody bid on it?

Not sure what the beef is with JB Weld, either.  Sounds like a generic case of the previous owner doing a repair that you consider sub-standard.  How many times have we all had THAT situation show up on a bike we got?  How many times have you done a repair that someone ELSE might consider sub-standard?

Good luck with it.  Post some pix when you can.

Kirk, I think Havoc's point is HE wants to buy those cases.  So if we bid, we drive the price up and maybe he won't be able to afford them.

If they stay cheap, they're worth a shot.  Good luck, Havoc!

HavocTurbo,

No problem with me bidding on the cases. I spent WAY too much time on mine to even consider starting over. Good luck and keep us posted if you should get ones without JB Weld!

My problem isnt with JB Weld...

It's with the amount used to cover up the mix matched welding job with a STEEL plate. If it were only JB weld that'd be one thing. But to try to weld in a steel plate to an aluminum hole with what looks to be a mig welder.... is slightly uncalled for.

Considering that it took me almost 3 hours cleaning the cases only to find out that the welding job melted the case around one of the bolt bungs... and cracked the whole top of the case, makes them virtually useless unless some major repair work were to be undertaken. To be honest, given the amount of collateral damage, it would be cheaper to buy new ones than try to fix these.

And sadly money I ain't got right now. Kinda like everyone else this time of year.

So I meant to ask that no one please drive up the price (thank you in advance) so I can afford to get my bike back on the road next season.

My frustration has gotten the better of me, and I can't tell you how many times I have had to fix things on my bike that I did to begin with that were sub-standard. Happens all the time. You go for a quick fix and then.... time goes by without being properly taken care of.

I'm not judging.... just venting and asking for help all at the same time.

The best advice I can give you:

If you EVER find something you want to bid on, dont tell anyone.. till its over.. The wurst place I can think of to even mention it is on here...

myself and a buddy used to buy a lot for resale on ebay, and we were pretty tight-lipped even to each other!.. sometimes tho we would drop clues to what it was to see if the other had also "found it".. One time tho we both figured out we were both bidding on the same thing, so we decided who would get it, lol.

.. anyway, loose lips sink parts deals..

Yep I guess I can see that. Maybe I did make it harder for myself.

I've only been here a short while, but I've felt like there are a lot of people here who seem to have my kind of idea when it comes to my bike and my love of riding.

I figured if I posted my story here.... you guys would go out on a limb for me as far as I would for you.

No matter if it's building garages, arguing over the bank bailouts, talking about past versions of race bikes, or just talking about what else is out there...

This seems to be the all encompassing community. I love it here.

So I ask..... no beg....

Good luck. The shipping charges are almost $50.oo !! No way it costs even 1/2 that amount even with  packaging.
I hate it when people charge too much for shipping to make up for a low bid price.

How far are you from Indy? I've got a set I'd love to sell. Don't sweat the eBay auction. Cases are a "dime a dozen". Sometimes they come with all the engine parts in them.  ;D

The auction says shipping is $27.12 to me and I'm further east than Havoc. ? ???
