Do I buy this 350 four?
« on: December 15, 2008, 05:56:38 PM »
Here's what he said about the bike:

"this is an all original 1973 honda. this bike has all four original exaust pipes that are selling on ebay for nearly $350 dollars a piece. i dont have the time to part this bike out so my loss is your gain. This bike has a title. i had the bike running but it stopped this summer. my local mechanic is near sure that the carberator just needs a good cleaning so if u want it for the reason of fixing up this would also be possible"

One would think that if his mechanic could figure out that the carbs was clogged, he could clean it out for pretty damn cheap. This thing is too small for me, but it seems like a fun project, what do you guys think this thing would bring on ebay? Should I try to pick it up?

I would . The bikes all there? Tool kit and manual and tray? The exhausts are nice but are they coming apart inside. The bike looks like its seen some weather. Slowly clean it and tune it as best you can and hold onto it. Replace the safety items and ride it. How rough is the chrome around triple tree and rims? Under seat? Is the tank rusty? Guages badly faded? Ignition, is it missing? Unless those pipes are near perfect I think $4-500 is plenty fair. You could part it out here. I need the fenders and seat! ;D

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

I've not seen it yet, and am a little rough on the details, he's asking $800.

Yeah, I was wondering what those were  :D

Completeness is a big asset and it looks rather complete. I suspect it's in about the same shape as my bike when I bought it and besides paint, mine didn't need much at all. I did a full engine rebuild for reliability sakes but might have gotten away with just a re-ring job and some tensioner parts.

between $500 and $800 seems fair.
