hello everyone...new to this site.  im fairly mechanically inclined.  ive owned a '73 cb350, '76 cb550, and currently have a '82 cb750 dohc...all ive had to fix before riding.  i just picked up a '78 cb400t...the guy that i got it from tried to jump it off with a car battery, i know, why didnt he kick start or push start..who knows...anyway now there is no spark at the plugs.  i really havent started troubleshooting yet...i figured i would start at the plugs and work my way backwards to caps ,wires ,coil , cdi..etc.....but if anyone has done/seen this before, a push in the right direction would be appreciated.thanks.T

did he blow the fuse, check there then to coils

no the main 15a fuse isnt blown...1st thing i checked.  someone suggested the stator may be bad. but stator is part of charging, not ignition..right??

I've jumped from cars lots of times- you just have to be sure the car isn't running.
The obvious question to me is- what shape is the battery in?  Is it at least clicking, or is it dead silent?
Check the kill switch. (hey- I've done it more than once...)

i put a brand new battery in it...the lights, horn, neutral and oil lights work.  the starter cranks the   engine over.  i tested the plugs with my cb750 and they work.  did this model have a condersor?

ok...disconnected cdi from coil...when started, getting a spike of 24v, then bleeed down to 12v from cdi side.   with coil connected...zero voltage thru the coil to the plug caps when started.  17k ohms thru coil...its open!?   .manual says normal 3k-5k ohms...anyone got a coil?!?....seriously...throw some parts my way....

Whats the coil look like?   I have some 650 coils laying around that are cdi.  One coil fires 2 cyl.

coil model # is FL102-12v 8.1...two wires, yellow and green, connect to output of cdi.  cdi model # is TIA01-20..
