CB500 Rocker rod holders dumb question
« on: December 17, 2008, 09:42:12 AM »
I was wondering how to get the rods that the rockers are on all the way in so that the side covers that go on valve cover can sit flush.  I cant seem to get them to sit right.

Any chance you're using late model 550 rocker shafts to replace the earlier 500 shafts?

Those later shafts are a little longer.

Do you have the upgraded cam covers or the original type?

Do you have eight rods or four?

Do you have the pinch bolts in the cam cover?

If you have the old style, are the rod bores worn?  Are you inserting the rods with the screw hole out?  And, is the valve spring pressure keeping the rods from sliding?

Ok well I guess this one just wasn't meant to happen before christmas.  That one really warm day we just had up hear melted the snow on my enclosed porch and now there is about half an inch of ice melted and refrozen over my entire project.  Seeing as to how I am in college and now need to move back home for a month I guess I'll have to put this project on hold for a while.  But hey I get to work full time and I'll come back with tons of cash to put into her in the new year...
