My mind has been officially blown...
« on: December 19, 2008, 07:10:21 AM »
Google earth and maps was crazy enough to have a satellite view of the world down to the details of streets and cars. While in Google Maps, on the left hand side of the legend above the Zoom, there's a figure of a person you can click and drop into the map. you'll now have a street view of the location with high-res, 360 degree pics. a good portion of the US, Australia, NZ and Europe have been logged.

who ever knew this kinda resources in technology would come? and it's free!

They've been doing this for a while.  Here is a page with close-up photos of one of the vans used to produce the street view photos.

Or you can do what a bunch of people in Pittsburgh did and stage a bunch of random stuff for the google vans to capture.  Like a marching band, a marathon, a parade, a mad scientist's laboratory, a sword fight, etc.

Here are the links.

Yeah, I especially liked the picture of the kid in the ghetto of a large city (I think it was Chicago?) running away from another kid who had a gun pulled out.

They deleted that particular frame for some reason ;)

So now when you're traveling down that particular street it's frame frame frame (blank) frame frame...   :D

Saw my wife standing in front of the garage.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!
