Valvoline synthetic
« on: December 20, 2008, 07:28:11 PM »
From FAQ at Valvoline's web sight:

"Can I use SynPower motor oil in my motorcycle that has a wet clutch?

No. SynPower is a highly friction modified oil and is not designed for wet clutches."

http://www.valvoline.com/pages/products/product_detail.asp?product=19&utm_source=landingpage&utm_medium=productpage&utm_campaign=synpower%2Bpromotion

I've got about 5200 miles on my precious with this oil and have had no clutch problems.  I will probably make a change in brands with my next oil change.

I do enjoy oil threads.

Didn't you know?  Most FAQs on a site like that are written by lawyers.

Where's my popcorn?  We haven't had a good(?) oil thread in a while.

Just bought a case of Honda blend
Picked it up in my BMW/sidecar that runs Castrol 20-50.

If you treat your bikes too well, they come to expect it.

Nevermind the clutch, I'm sure your gaskets are dissolving as we type...

Why all the talk when Honda has a synthetic out that is rated for wet clutches???

Pro-Honda HP4 10W40

With years of testing and development behind it, Pro-Honda HP4 stands as the definition of excellence for 4-stroke motorcycle oils. HP4 blends the heat-stability and shear-resistance of synthetic oil with the lubricity of mineral oil to get the best of both worlds.

Sounds like;

A) You wrote the brochure/ad
B) You own stock
C) You are related to Soichiro

Oh, all right, I'll start it. Why go fancy when you're changing your oil every 1000 miles? Castrol motorcycle specific for me.  ;) ;)

I pee in my tank. Hey with all the preservatives in our food, it should preserve the engine right!

I use Valvoline DuraBlend Semi-Synthetic. My '89 Mazda MX6 has 266,000 miles and uses a quart every 4000 miles. Changed the valve cover gasket at 245,000 and the top end was like new. Good Stuff
