will a CB750K cam work in an F2
« on: December 26, 2008, 12:17:52 PM »
I've got a '78 CB750F2 (black engine) fitted with an F1 engine. I've read that the F2 had a sportier cam but they are near impossible to find in good condition. I have found a K model cam but will it be as sporty as the proper one or even fit? The bike is asthmatic as it is and i haven't got round to fitting the proper carbs yet, which i guess would help a great deal. I'm hoping there isn't too much i have to do to get it up to power.

DO NOT put just any K cam in that F1 engine. Anything other than 69/70/perhaps 71 too or 77/78 K will make it run worse. They all "fit" but that doesn't make a "good fit" due to poor performance. If the F1 is asthmatic then you need to find out what the problem is. The F0/F1 brought the performance back to the 750 amd the cam was one reason. They installed the same basic engine design in the 77/78 K. If you're laying out cash you can get a good high performance cam for $200.
