rear wheel spacer interchangability?
« on: September 29, 2005, 04:56:07 PM »
Good evening...I have run into a problem...The P.O. of my 1978 CB750K8[/b] left out a spacer on my rear wheel...I will do my best to explain...

the rear wheel has 3 large spacers one on each side of the hub, inbetween the hub and the swing arm and one that is machined down on one half and goes inside the hub on the drive chain side (inbetween the hub and the cover tht you bolt the rear sprocket to)...I am missing one of the spacers that go on the outsideside but I am not sure of which one because I cant find any specifics on the dimentions of the spacers...The Jack Ass before me took the inside, machined spacer, turned it 180 degrees and used it on the outside of the drive chain side of the hub...needless to say the rear wheel pacing was off a bit...but not enough to be noticed while riding...

Anywho...are the outside spacers in question interchangable though out the years...or are they all year specific

Kghost has a few different year parts bikes but not a '78 ... and I would like to buy one from him

The rear spacer on the drive side is longer on a 77/78K model than earlier models.

Buffo, I've just measured the spacers on an axle I've still got from a 78 750K I parted years back, I don't know which spacer is for which side..... but one is 25mm and the other is 35mm.

I have the complete axle assembly, chain adjusters, castle nut, cotter pin, spacers, etc. cheap if anyone needs it-

I have the 25mm one so I am in need of the 35mm one....Are the I.D. and the O.D the same on the 2 spacers with just the length different?

yup, just the length is different.

Shipping might be steep, I'll box it up and get a real quote asap, but it might wind up being more than $30.
