Lowering blocks on rear shocks

Anyone enlighten me how these work and where they attach to?
I'm thinking of lowering one of my 650's and even though this subject is quite often mentioned on this forum there is nothing in the FAQs section on it.
Do you have to make your own or is there an already built set I can buy?
How much drop can I achieve by doing this?

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

just thought i could offer some input.i have a 78 cb550 that i installed lowering blocks on i got them from mc enterprises and dropped the rear end 2.5" in total.it does make the ride a little stiffer but not horrible. you should be aware that once you lower the rear end your centre stand becomes quite difficult to use and if you have a side stand you may need to bend or cut down the stand so that your bike does not sit to vertical .they work by moving the lower mounting position for the clevis on the shock further back requiring you to compress suspension up closer to atatch shock.if this is the look you want for your bike go for it as i have no regrets and love the new look of my bikes stance.as for comfort not bad as i am 6'1 and 230 and still enjoy the ride quality of it.

I guess shorter shocks from another model would work too.
Actually I've been offered a set by a guy who lives here in NZ so I'll let you all know next year how I find them...cheers...Hush.

Has 11'' Short shocks for pretty cheap.
