Bill , I think I have a rear wheel for the bike in the first pic, sold to me as an Indian wheel, never been able to determine if it was or wasnt.!

There was a local shop downtown here, had scads of parts, lots of 45 and maybe other parts, frames, tanks, forks, etc... The owner was the motor officer here and rode a red Servicar.. he died in the 60,s in a traffic accident. His son later told me all the parts went to scrap or the dump.. :o.. I asked him why they did not keep them?? he said he was only 14 and his brother was 16 and did not care about that stuff.. He does however still have his dads 45 hillclimber..WR I think..(make Huge mental note to track down & beg him to sell, again)

            Sounds like a tragic repeat of history! :( (almost a  :'( )

Makes me think about ALL THOSE PARTS at my Granddad's shop, when he died. :(  There was even part of one of those 101 Scouts (the frame with forks and a rebuilt engine that had not been run except to check it out) that they used to use on the "Wall of Death" sitting at the top of the stairs. It just makes me SICK to think that ALL of those parts and such, went to the Scrapyard (in both cases)!

I'm sorry for any part I may have played; people in the 'custom frame' thread must be sick of hearing about spine frames (and how wonderfully beautiful and under appreciated they are) and I can't seem to come up with any more Honda Trackers. ::) ;D I had to vent my fantasies somewhere!

But... if I find an Indian with a spine frame you'll hear about it! Especially if it's a dirt tracker too.

OK that's quite enough! Your dad owned (possibly) one of the rarest of Indians?

If your pop isn't in the Hall of World's Coolest Dads yet I'd be surprised.

To be PC, shouldn't this tread be renamed "A bunch of native Americans?"  ;)

 :) Just kidding.

Yeah, I was in a non-PC mood. Political Correctness is killing us. I also like to use 'dames' 'skirts'... the broads love it. I also wish for just once to have someone objectify me sexually. How will I know that it's demeaning unless I'm a "victim" of it?

That 841 was my Mom and Dad's transportation for some time. Mom & Dad had at least 2 motorcycles before they finally got a car, after I was born. And, I AM mighty proud of my Dad and SO feel that we've had some pretty cool times in the past years (especially during the "Motorcycle Years", with the Shop)

Yup, it is on a loop.  I had no sound earlier when I was watching it.  Hit this thread just now and jumped, lol.  Could not figure out what the noise was.

Dunno how it happened but I missed the last couple of great posts.

More GI spec. bike.

Out of uniform here.

"1929: Bob Armstrong packed and ready to go." Looks like Hill Climbing set up, no? Was Bob brother to Board Tracker Erle Armstrong? This picture was taken within sight of the factory says my source.

Just one of the factories they had in the area.

I made a pilgrimage a few years back to Springfield Mass.--to see
the old Indian factory.  Most of it's still there !-- Being converted to
condos--Not in a prime part of town, however.
Took a shot into the basement which matches up pretty good with
one of the vintage shots from Harry Sucher's book "The Iron Redskin".
Big Chief Food Center is across the street.

very cool gerhed! we call springfield the arm pit of western mass. too bad as there's a lot of history; i went to school not far in what use to be the springfield armory and can vouch for the area's arm pittieness.

i love that old architecture though and there's lots of it around here. the old ames factory in chicopee (near sprgfld) center is where they made things like civil war swords and many of the statues in mass. is now an apartment complex.

love those shots gerhed.
