I've not been following all of the brake talk, who can?  I am curious to know if anyone makes a softer, cast iron rotor?  I think this would eliminate the squeal and give options for aggressive pads for better stopping.  The down side is we could wear the rotors out, but every other car I've owned has had rotors as a consumable item.  Seems a little different with the CBs.

I'm having my stock K7 upgraded with a period authentic Brembo-dual disc set up.  The stock single disc is a slug at stopping my heavy bike, and (as other rear drummers can attest), the rear drum brake doesn't offer too much real stopping power. 

I'll be happy to share information once it's sorted out.

Well you can get brackets like the ones above for 750 legs from Davies Motorsport in the UK. They should be on the web but don't know their URL. They can be emailed at daviesmotorsport@hotmail.co.uk for a price. The brakcets are beautiful milled and polished items.

Cast iron rotors can also be found at www.cateng.co.uk. Len does replacement service on these so send in your old rotor and you get it back with a nice new cast iron galvanised rotor on it.

If you look at the pictures of my Bomber above, you'll see the area on the disc swept by the pad is still pretty clean for a cast rotor and this hasn't bene raced for a year. The rest of the rotor is still galvanised so stays nice condition.

Thanks so much for the cast iron rotor info.  I suspect if a fellow wanted to eliminate his squeal AND get increased brake performance, this is a step in the right direction.  Can you confirm that putting a cast iron rotor on a stock config with a good, aggressive pads would be a huge improvment over the OE config?

the rear drum brake doesn't offer too much real stopping power. 

 That's why the rear brake gets changed to disc brake also Too much brake is just enough.

Well I think it is a big improvement yes. Go the next step with the AP caliper and master cylinder and you have modern braking performance with classic looks. It'll brake safe and hard or if you want to, you can join the Starboyz and do stoppies all day long

I mispoke as to the brand of retro-period-authentic brakes in my previous post.  They're not Brembo's but AP dual discs.  I'll post with more info once their sorted out, but here's the website for AP:

So these are to mount the vintage looking ap to a 350 fork?  Will they work with 750f legs. How is the braking with those calipers?
Why has no one made a run of brakets to use modern sport bike brakes on a 750 should be an easy kit to run a dz of right?  Someone here should...I'd buy it cause I don't have actsess to to tools to make them

Alright. So the Brembos came today. They look F#%$ING SWEET! The stock CB750 rotor is too thick to fit the new calipers. But I'm not crying, I figured I'd use 320mm rotors anyway.
As I was looking at the build, I decided to go with GL1000 front forks. Picked em up on ebay for a pretty decent price. Man, gotta love that ebay!
Alright, now to hunt down the rest of the pieces. . .

This set is made in England, not by me! But it is coming my way. It is possible with P08's too. Like I said in one of my previous posts there where brackets available, by JPX France, that used the original mounting for the bracket for AP, Brembo etc. I'll see if I have a pic of them. Know a lot of Endurance race teams used them in the '70's.

interesting and at the same crazy construction.
if the braking power is not good enough, then you have to switch to bigger (diameter) rotors.
braking means convert kinetic energy to heat. a bigger disk will do so. 4 calipers will add a lot of weight to the unsprung mass.

there is another method to mount brembo or ap calipers to the oem fork legs: in the 70ies, I remember, I weldet small brackets to the fork leg fitting to the calipers. pure and simple.
