Well guys/girls. Today I dedicated most of my day to work on my CB.
I had a stuck front caliper since I got the sucker. So today I decided to try something different to get it unstuck since I don't have a grease gun.
1. take off your caliper
2. place the caliper with the brake pad facing down to a piece of wood. My front caliper got stuck about 1/4 out of the caliper.
3. take a hammer or rubber mallet, place something on top of the caliper so you don't damage it. A few strokes later the brake pad should rest flush with the caliper face. This will break away the brake pad from the caliper housing since it had rust build up
4. re attach the caliper to the brake line, not to the bike.
5. bleed the system. when the system is fully bleed, you will feel a pumping sensation in the brake lever, this means that the piston is moving, and little by little it is coming out.
6. once you have enough of the piston out, spray some wd40 around it to loosen some of the rust and take a screw driver and pry the brake pad free.
7. once the brake pad is out I soaked the caliper and brake pad in some wd40/simple green. This got all or most of the surface rust off. Take a piece of cloth and rub the inside of the caliper with a help of a screwdrive. Spotless.
8. I lubed all brake pads with some anti seize lube to make sure it doesnt get rusted again or as fast.
9. reassembled the front brake system, bleed the system. I got a working front brake again, and it is very smooth.
Hope this can help out some people who might want to try a different approach if you dont have a grease gun. It worked great for me. Only about 1 hour or so.
