what could it be?
« on: December 26, 2008, 05:39:17 PM »
i talked to this guy who says he has a
"1969 or 1967 on/off road honda"
he says he thinks it is 100cc or 125cc twin
has a white seat and the tank was originally red

he is selling it but doesn't have a pic and he lives about 60 miles away so i
want to get some sort of idea of what he has before i drive to check it out

does anyone know what it might be
pics would be helpful

No white seat, but the exhaust does go under on the SL175

Didn't the sl175 come out later than '69?

thanks. i'll ask him about the slanted motor when i talk to him again.
he also said it looked like a collectors bike-
to me they are all collectors bikes and if i had the cash i'd collect them all but-
i am thinking pre 1970 if it looks to him like a collectors bike just cause of the frame
and tank style.
i don't know but oh well
he is going to pretty much give me the bike for a few 20's so i'm going to take it no matter

::)  I didn't even think about the year? I was caught by "the pipes went under the bike" thing. :(

may be this

Let's go over the info we have been given:

           "1969 or 1967 on/off road honda"
he says he thinks it is 100cc or 125cc twin
has a white seat and the tank was originally red

Don't really think that the Honda pictured here, is an on/off road Honda.

           Also:

when i was talking to him though i asked about the condition of the exhaust and when he mentioned the headers he said they reach under the motor. may not be original. says it is an enduro too

Something seems to be amiss here (to me). An on/off road bike (like an enduro) with the pipes under the engine, sounds like an SL. But to be a 69' or 67' clouds things up. Also, he says a 100 or 125 Twin! Now a 69' Twin with pipes under the engne and a 350cc, could easily be an SL350K0. Did Honda EVER make a 100cc Twin? I don't know of one, but then there are lots of things that I don't know. None of the CL Twins had pipes under the bike unless THEY WERE CHANGED!
We need to see a photo of this bike.

I love this page:
http://www.motorera.com/honda/

All of Honda's bikes listed by CC.

Of the 100 and 125 cc bikes, it looks like the only one from the late 60's was the CL125A Scrambler.

The pipes don't reach under the engine, though, so you might be looking at either a non stock bike or a later year bike.

Ask for the VIN number, most Honda's include the model in the VIN number, and then go from there.

I (at first) had sort of thought something last last pic , or maybe a 160 or 175. I knew they made 175 (had a 67) but was not sure about the rest.

But if it were say a CL or CB 350 with TT pies, that also sounded a bit like it.

The slanted motor scramblers definitely have an older look, so if it has slanted motor, and rad hoses on the forks(gaiters), it would pretty well put it 68 or down.. the maybe 69 is not helping any.

hopefully 745 or 547 has gone and BOUGHT it and reports back.

I sort of thought they stopped making thenm in 66. In 67 the 175 started production.

But it could be maybe registered as a 69 and made earlier..

Twin Carbs is a CB, single carb is a CD.

Bet it has a brake cable to the back wheel.
