Hey guys,
It took me a couple weeks but I found you, I knew I couldn't be the only one crazy enough to buy a 32 year old motorcycle, and take it all apart just for fun! Here's my story; After racing dwarf cars (Motorcycle powerd 5/8 scaled coupes and sedans from the 30's 40's) with my brother for 15 years, I decided it was time for a break and sold all of my racing equipment. Boardem set in very quickly, so we decided to find some of our favorite old bikes that needed a little help, and start to play. 5 weeks ago my brother found a 79 750 dressed, that needs lots of work, and 2 weeks ago I found my 76 550. Mine is in pretty good shape, but my fun will come in turning it into a cafe racer. In the mid 70's our Dad, a carpenter/contractor took a job as a manager at the local Honda shop during a building recession, so we grew up with bikes like these in our garage, along with xr dirtbikes, atc's and even the coolest scooter ever, the Kick-n-go! Like they say: The more things change the more they stay the same! We are in the middle of a recession, and we got the same motorcycles in our garages! So glad to be here, this is my first bike project, and I have a million question, and I bet you guys have all the answers!
