Vintage Mag wheels

Stumbled across a set of Kimtab's on ebay in my search for a Henry Abe front and started wondering about other wheels available during the time.

Kimtab snow flakes
Henry Abe 7 spokes (not sure if HA made the 6's too)
Lester
Morris Mag (did they make anything CB specific?)
Invader

There was a set of 5 spokes too that were dead sexy, can't place the name but Yamiya had a set on their site and someone here scored a set out of Maine off craigslist.

Any others???? Anyone have any vintage ad's for wheels?

WoW, that setup is focking gorgeous!  Out of my price range right now, If I could, I would prolly hit the buy it now.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

The other one you may be thinking of is Hayashi.  And yes, they are dead sexy.  I'd buy them in a heartbeat if I had that kind of money burning a hole in my pocket.

HOLY CRAP!  That is an amazing setup that would look awesome on mecs new Egli frame or on Seawebs chrome tracy.  Actually they would look freaking awesome on any bike...

   That is a REALLY nice set of wheels...and some other parts.  ;D Too bad he wants more than what I'm willing to pay for an entire running bike.  ::) What can I say? I like projects.

Shelby Dowd (might be Henry A,s)
Curtis made a Morris clone
Dymag
American Racing 12 spoke, were made by Sifton, then PM had them
Crager solid 15"
C&G mfg.. made a overlength  front hub laced for the rear, and mags
Hallcrafts wire c/w disc model and welded steel.

I have a set from the 80s for Kaw, that are spun and riveted together
cant ID em yet, but they look familiar

I'm the one in Maine that scored the Hayashi's for $50.  Here they are mounted on my K6.

Forks by Ceriani, look like recent ones AND they look chromed.. them legs are worth at least 400.00

HEADS UP!!

 He has a nice tank seat combo in glass.. sort of trackerish.. I am real familiar with that tank, a buddy ran one for years on a nickel frame 750, and it shows off the motor nicely.. does not hold much gas though.

Looks like a worthy deal, specially with what stuff costs today.. hope a SOHCer get the stuff.. ;D

Shelby Dowd, he was the one with the 6 spoke that looked very similar to the Henry Abe 7's, I think.. The American Racing wheels kind of looked like an invader except the spokes were round and angled correct?

American Racing 12 spoke was I think only offered by Sifton and later PM I think.. not really offered for 750, but I have seen them on one, a chopper and they look great (one of my all time faves) they are 2 rows of 6 round or slight oval spokes, and staggered.

I might be able to buy my old ones back (they were on a H_D) but am reluctant due to the guy having powdercoated the rear which was magnesium.

Front was an 18 inch, rear was 15 inch. They were mainly used on dragsters, mostly altereds, the 18,s being on the front with no brakes.. spindle mounts. They are being recreated by Radir Wheels at about 800 a pair for fronts probably not drilled for discs, not sure if rears are made.

4th) Morris (3 peice hub-bearing retainers are removable)
5th) EPM (alot lighter than the Morris, has 1 peice hub)

Granted almost anything can be made to fit these old Hondas...but I don't see a lot of people using mags from other bikes from the same era.  Do y'all know of any examples of folks adapting yamaha or kawi mags for our bikes?

Yamaha first disc brake wheels used same bolt pattern, as CB 750, so I have seen their calipers on CB,s The wheels probably work.

When converting to disc on the rear, people tend to use what they can get(unless they like Comstars)

Kawasaki and Harley. There may be others, but these 2 I know for sure. Kawasaki later copied the Morris mags and made copies by Enkei. Morris mags are always marked(M in a circle) and the Enkei mags are also marked (Enkei or Kawasaki).
  The Kawasaki mags use an odd bearing size in their wheels (40mm outer diameter) and is a hard bearing to find when changing from17mm axle (Kaw) to 15mm or 20mm axle sizes(most others use a 42mm outer diameter bearing). I'm in the process of figuring this out now (Kawa front wheels on Yamaha). Yamaha mags to a Honda bike would probably be an easier conversion.

Fishead is right so far, anyone remember a specific model that each maker used these on?

As far as I know (re Morris mags), HD always had black adaptor plates, not sure about Kaw. But every wheel I saw that was odered from Morris had natural aluminum adaptors.

Early Morris were anodized, later were painted I think.

They were well made, part of that was they were centrifugally cast, and very clean castings. Qute a few factory road race bikes used them..

Isn't that kawasakis own (aluminum) copy, very common on 80's kawasakis?
(in 7 or 5 spoke form - I am using 5 spoke version to replace 70's ronal).

Yeah, I think so.. Morris never made drum wheels.

Both Kawi & H-D used Morris for a short time, then started making their own.

By 1976-77 Kawasaki was using their copy(Enkei) of the Morris mags (at least on the KZ 900/1000). Morris was still making the KZ wheels in 1976, but they were mostly offered aftermarket.

 The Enkei mag was a close copy of the Morris and it is hard to tell them apart with out looking for the makers mark. All the Morris wheels I have had (jap bike) had non-finished seperate bearing retainers. The Kaw Enkei had a 1 Peice Hub (no seperate bearing retainers). The later GPz style wheels shown above (with the larger hub for the discs with the larger center hole) were not made by Morris.

On the Kawi wheels the spoke rib runs right down to the machined edge of the rim of the rim portion of the wheel.

Also there is a very tiny rib on the Morris I think they runs between the spkes , on the back edge of rim portion, the other wheels do mot have this.

The Kawi that had Morris on them stock, also had 2-1 aftermarket headers (not sure if they were slip-on muffler or complete exhaust)..

The angle of that picture is misleading. There's no rib between the spokes on the center of the Morris rim (see picture below).
 The Morris mags "usually" have the tire valve centered between the spokes, where the Kaw Enkei's "usually" have them off center between the spokes. (shown on the Morris below and the Enkei above).("usually" means not all the time,esp. with the Morris)
 In all honesty, the only "difference" in the Enkei and Morris mags are the Brand name and the price the brand name Morris brings. They are "pretty much" the same. The Enkei's can be bought for alot less cash than the brand name Morris brings. Thats why I chose them for my Yamaha conversion.
