1965 Honda CA77- what's it worth?
« on: January 02, 2009, 04:53:02 PM »
There's an estate auction coming up this Sunday and it includes a CA77.  It has less than 9.000 miles and (from pictures) appears to be super clean.  I don't even know what a CA77 is- a 305?

If I wanted to buy one, what would it cost?
How much would you guys bid?
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

That's a 305 Dream, Ernie. Very desireable, and collectible.
Original, and real clean, it's worth big bucks, depending on completeness and condition.
A fine example can go for upwards of $10K or more.

I'd go along to watch and if the crowd was full of 'haven't-got-a-clue-what-it's-worth' types bid on it.

I have 3 305 Hondas and am going to pick up numbers 4 and 5 next Tuesday.  I suspect that most people would say my 2nd best bike was close to 'fine'.  What I am trying to say is, my best one is REALLY nice (1227 actual miles).  I would sell you my 2 BEST 305's for $10k.  I'm not really wanting to sell them, but I just want to provide a real, "put your money where your mouth is", reference for where I think the market value of those bikes is.  EBay is NOT a good indicator of the actual value.  Bidders on eBay will pay crazy prices for a bike they haven't even actually seen.  A titled, currently tagged, running, ready to ride 305 Dream would have to be pretty nice before I would pay much over $2500 for it.

Ditto Okie's comments.  I've seen one or two on the various Florida craigslists in ready-to-ride condition (not show-quality) and never more than $2k.

Went to look;  Some rubber bits cracked with age.  Ding on the front fender.  BUT- it was stored properly and started right up.
I think I'll bid $500.  What the heck -
