Throttle Grip Adjuster ???
« on: January 01, 2009, 08:16:57 PM »
When sorting thru my parts yesterday I came across a switch assembly that had a chrome plated screw under it with a spring, sitting between the push and pull throttle cables.
Checking all my other switches they all have threaded holes under them but no screw. I checked my parts manual out and sure enough they call part number 10 a Throttle Grip Adjuster.
Ouit of curiosity, how many out there actually have this. I presume it was standard even though this is a first for me to see one.
Is it for putting a little tension on the grip for setting the throttle in one place warmups or for maintaining you speed as you wave out to someone? Cheers

Yes that's what its for. But US liability fears caused Honda to stop supplying it and I don't think you can buy it. Being a thumbscrew type set up, its not nearly as convenient as commercially available throttle drags like Vista Cruise. I have one of these on all my bikes. Allows to lock a higher idle during warmup, and then a brief relief while I shake the numbness out of my hand,  I wave with my left hand :)  Never lock it for long. A quick flick of the thumb will lock or unlock it. And its not so tight you can't turn the throttle against it while locked.

Cheers ... thanks for that. I will add it to the CB350F sidecar project I am working on. All the other switches, although threaded did not show signs on having anything screwed into them, so I dear say they were banned or discontinued here in NZ as well.

You're welcome. You can find VistaCruise cheaper other places.  I love it.

There is a thin metal shoe that gets pushed against the plastic throttle sleeve, it is quite often missing.

I did not know that they stopped using the thumbsrew, must have been in use till at least 73 or longer..
