Does the accel pump shoot gas when you turn the gas? What brand of filter are you using? have you checked your plugs after you ran the engine? What do they look like?

Yes the accel pump works great...clearance is good on it too.

Air filter? honda oem.

Plugs look good, a little black on the tip, but not bad...its still getting a little wet. I think since the timing might be way off now could be causing problems...but if I correct the timing and it still does it..I dunno where to turn.

well its been below 30 since I got the bike. So no I havent rode it, but it was running rough when I got it. When I got it I made sure the tranny went into all gears and rode it for about 25 feet to a garage. The brakes didnt work because they were frozen/rusted.

BTW I wouldn't waste my time or anyone else's if I didn't have a problem. I work full time and go to college full time. Never had a carbed bike, nor vintage so this is all new for me.

HOW did you clean your carbs? Just carb spray or what? I ask cause they junk up easy and the best way to clean them is with a honda carb cleaning tool OR a couple strands of thin copper. Spray never works and neither does compressed air. Do the choke flaps open all the way?

O.K. I accept your explanation, just I haven't seen a post that started so long ago be unresolved 3 weeks and 77 replies later ! I also know that were all frustrated by really cold weather....too damn cold to work on our bikes right now, puts us all in a spin!

I would never waste someones time since mine is not there either.

Combination of dip/spray/brush on the bowls. It doesnt leak any gas

That is the bowls but it is the jets that are most important. These slows are very touchy. I had the exact issue you describe years ago. I thought I had cleaned everything good but #2 still was rich all the time. I pulled the jet out and used a wire from a carb tool I got from honda and went through every hole. It made a difference.

Hey Hun,
You said you put some inline filters on your fuels line, make sure those are vertical, not horizontal and when you get the money (or you do it yourself) acid etch your tank and line it to prevent rust and then heave those inline filters out. It seems they cause nothing but trouble for people. Your petcock should already have a filter in it. Inline filters with petcock filter is kinda like suspenders and belt.

He may not have a tank filter. My 78 did not when I got it. AS the po was a moron, I have good reason to believe he never did anything to the bike.

the tool is about 5 inches long and 1.5 wide or so. It hinges on 1 end. Inside a number of different gauge wires for different jet sizes. You just flip out the one you need, close the halves and there you go. I got it a number of years ago so I do not know if honda has them anymore.

thats pretty funny.... Thats actually a mig welding tip cleaner. i guess it serves its purpose in jet cleaning as well. would have never thought to use mine in that way.

they are flexible. the jets are not as fragile as some think. Sure you do not roto rooter them but they do not damage that easily.

I've used my torch tip cleaner to clean jets several times. A 35 slow jet is .35mm, or .1378 inch, in diameter. A #80 tip cleaner is .1350 inches. Works real well.

I got one of those jet cleaner tools like #9 at Z1 enterprizes. Good for cleaning out the poo in whatever.

On a plus note my friend got my tank and side covers finished...ready for paint...

Question..do 78 cb750K head interchange with all 70+ heads or is it only 77-78 heads?
