Motad exhaust
« on: January 01, 2009, 05:08:22 PM »
Hey guys, there is a motad exhaust on ebay. I contacted the seller, trying to figure out what year the exhaust is for. He hasn't gotten back to me but I figured I'd ask you guys some stuff.

I did a quick search on motad and found out that they're made to be nice and quiet. Can anybody comment on the performance they provide?

Here's a picture:

Any of you guys able to tell if it'd fit my 1978 CB750k?

That flange near the header end of the pipe means they are for a later year. For the later years, 1977-78, the exhaust attached to studs in the head. I believe those will fit your bike if they are in fact from a 750.

Most exhaust on fours come out pretty straight, except CB 750 which is splayed liked the one shown. I cant think of other fours that have that (not sure about 500-4)

The 550's have splayed header tubes.

The listing claims the exhaust is for the 750. I'm just want to make sure it's for the 77-78k, because from what I understand, those later two years are different.

If its 750 it will bolt on 77/78

AND, if its 76 or earlier and you pull off the spigots and go to studs, then it will probably fit too..

There is a chance they may be 75 o76 750 F model.

if anything does not fit it will be from the main footpegs back..and some might require leaving C-stand off or making a stop for it, so it does not rub on the cvhain..

The seller hasn't responded to my inquiries just yet. Hopefully he knows what he has, and can give me an idea of what it fits. He said he bought it from carpy.

I sent him a PM. I think you're absolutely right about the 4-2s. I'm not a fan of ebay, I'd rather go through a member here on SOHC4.

You wont see much of a performance boost, they were just a replacement for standard system, really quiet and the build quality is very good...if I remember rightly I dont think you will need to change jetting either....over here in the Uk they were very popular as the standard systems rotted quickly what with all the salt on roads during winter, also they were cheap to purchase.

Just want to confirm that this exhaust is for a CB750. I have the exact same pipe on my K2 back here in Norway.
Cheers!

Performance isn't really an issue, I just need an exhaust. Any exhaust.

I used an old trombone. Good back pressure. And if you leave the slide on you can tune your exhaust as your roll down the road. Also play "When the Saints Come Marching In" for parades....

I didn't, the price went too high, wasn't worth it to me.

I am talking to cafeconleche about his old pipes, though. We're working some stuff out and hopefully I'll have them soon.
