has anyone added 2 element bulb sockets to existing blinker to get running lights on bike.would this draw to much current for the bike, and would hooking to tail light wires do the trick if i decide to do this?this is a 1972 750 would like more light on the front end for safety reasons.hopeing to get parking light effect from front blinkers.

My 750K8 has two element bulbs as stock equipment. Is it possible someone just put in the wrong bulbs?

I'm not up on the 72s but I can't imagine they aren't the same.

I'm sure some here with a 72 will come by shortly..........

In the mid `70`s is when they started using running lights on the front, all you need are the three wire turn signals from later models and hook up to the taillight
1972 CB500 - 1973 CB500 - 1974 CB550K - 1975 CB550F - 1975 CB750F - 1976 CJ360 - 1983 CR480 - 1970 BSA A65T Thunderbolt

No, the '72's did not have the running lights.
They started later than that. My '75 does have them, '75 may have been the first year, but I'm not certain. I also have a few '72's which definitely do not have running lights.

I added running lights to my '72, but had to wire them directly to the battery with its own fuse, because they were blowing out the fuse on the electrical panel. honestly I rarely use them, for fear of excessive draw on my battery. they're primarily backup in the event of a headlight failure at night, etc.

The running lights were added in 73.  I added the running lights to a buddy's 71 CB750 by replacing the inside of the signals with those from a later 2 terminal bulb type and then ran the running light wire to the headlight low beam wire.  Not perfect, as the running lights are only on during low beam, but my friend says fewer cars have pulled out in front of him recently.  Just make sure you check the alignment of the two contacts when you insert them.  The turn signal filament should be the brighter of the two.  Good luck with the fix, it's fairly simple.

Years back I asked a question like this on the greenspun boards, the easiest way to add rear (or front it seems) marker lights is to replace the existing indicator with the later 2 fillament type. I'm still considering this for my 750K3 on the rear directionals...My greenspun post had replies that worried me out of doing it then because of the potential legal issues involved in using amber running lights at the rear as well as on the front............Honda it seems has been using amber marker lights front and rear on their cruisers for some time now, My bike will have them after my winter teardown.
