cb750 fork lower measurements question
« on: April 25, 2012, 07:04:53 PM »
Hey folks ; I'm wondering. What are the differences in the fork lowers (the alum. part) across the year models?  Mainly how can they be identified. I've heard that there is a length difference as well as a difference with the internels. The main reason I'm asking is because I'm wanting to replace my lower right fork tube because a PO ground all the mounting points making it impossable to mount my fender in a normal manner. How can we identify these lowers?? I found a fellow member here that had a fork lower that he says is off a 1976, it measures 12.5" and another one (on Hondachopper) who's lower measures 12 5/8" I measured mine which is on my 1976F1 and it measures 13 7/8". Both measurements from the top of the lower to the split where the cap goes on (cap studs Not included in measurements). This is why I'm confused.   Thanks,   ...cougar...       P.S. I can't post any pics because of Internet problems (Dial-Up).

Sounds like you got it, the early bikes had short fork lowers and the F and later K bikes had the longer lower parts. The total length is the same, I think. I don't have numbers.

LOL Well I guess the PO ground off everything (numbers wise) from my lowers. I can't find anything on them. Just trying to find a way to be able to identify them so I'll know what to look for. Love to be able to mount a fender :).   ...cougar...
