CR29 carb question
« on: April 04, 2009, 08:36:25 AM »
For the life of me I can't remember which makes the bike leaner, airscrews out or in?  The little book doesn't seem to say.  Anyone know?

If its an air screw, I think it is on the 29s, then out lets in more air making it leaner.

If its a mixture screw as it is on later stock carbs (I think) out makes it richer.

That's what I thought, just making sure.

For any slide carbs, if the idle mixture screw is on the engine side of the slides then it controls fuel and turning it out makes the mixture richer. If the mixture screw is on the air filter side of the slides then the screw controls air and turning it out will make the mixture leaner.

I think that at some time in the distant past I knew that. It sounds familiar, but I had forgotten it very completely.

Thanks for bringing it up!
