is a simple ball hone ok to re-do the crosshatch at ring change time?

the cylinder is still perfectly round, the motor is back apart so i thought i'd throw some new rings in it while it was apart. i do know how to get the proper angle (thank you AMI)

Yes,  pump it in and out while turning to develop a 45 degree pattern.
