I only have a few old snapshots of the Yamaha. I scanned them to post them here but I don't know how to make them any bigger. The bike was set up pretty well, chassis work, port work, undercut trans (it was only a 4 speed trans!), air shifter, 44mm Mikuni carb with power jet added, custom expansion chamber, 2 quart aluminum fuel tank with fiberglass tank replica over it. It was legal for I/Gas in the IDBA but was never really competetive in that class. If I remember right there were lots of RD 400's in that class. That bike was a lot of fun and surprised a lot of racers of much bigger bikes, especially street bikes in bracket racing. Pistons were cracking on a regular basis, stock pistons would crack at windows on intake side. I started getting forged pistons from Venolia and they would last a little longer but would still crack about every 30 runs. If I didn't catch the cracks in time intake skirt would fall off and do much damage. I eventually gave the bike to my old boss's son (14 or 15 years old at the time) who put it in his bedroom for a while. It probably ended up in a landfill by now. As with many others, I wish I had kept it. Oh well.
