Which color?
« on: April 18, 2012, 07:31:01 PM »
Ok so I'm debating the color scheme of my tank and seat. Seat is yet to be purchased but I'm trying to get some kind of feel for the direction I want to go with this bike. It will be a cafe style seat of some kind. I really like the original Honda blue but dont know if it flows with the frame and engine colors. Any other ideas?

The grey just looks unfinished to me, it looks like primer.

I keep thinking ..what will it look like once the frame gets painted?

hmmmm........

Maybe 2-colors.  Mostly black, but where you have the pinstripes on your original, paint the inside of that area to match your frame or motor.  Then
pinstripe the outline (2 lines similar to the original) with the other color.  Black in the middle of the pin stripes.    just my 2c.

Kinda like the original blue color as well.    Might be just me, but I like the idea of having everything on the bike nice and shiny - then using the original
tank - as is.

Wheels spoked ?   Chrome or painted ?

Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

I love the charcoal grey with fresh black powdercoating. What kind of paint did you use to get that engine finish?

The frame is Ford Gray and the engine is Cast Coat Iron.

Nissan has a really nice metallic red out this year, other colors that I think would look great on that frame are jet black, Metalflake maroon, or a combination of all the above.
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.

I am thinking gold for the frame, to tie in with the gold trim on the gas tank.

Hmmm, Think I would go with the factory 1973-74 Honda XR75 “rubber grey metallic” paint on the tank to compliment your frame and engine colors. Blue & grey go together, perhaps add in some candy blue to break up up the grey a bit ...
