What's wrong with me?
« on: January 11, 2009, 02:23:26 AM »
I grew up with The Animals, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, et al...

And I kinda like this emo #$%* too....

Great rhythm on drum and bass, edgy lead...what more could a man want?

I don't know that Kings of Leon are classified as emo, but regardless, a pretty damn good rock and roll band.  Check out there earlier stuff, quite a bit more stripped down and really, really good.  Anything before the last two albums.

Is it the haircut on the lead singer? Flock of seagulls? Anyway, whatever slot they fit into, I think the're great. Exciting. And I've heard a lot of bands from 1967 to 2007.  I like it. Formulaic, but it works for me.

it is hard for us older people to find newer bands to replace the one we grew up listening to
maybe we need to start a thread about new rock bands to listen to

If you dig classic rock..

You might like the White Stripes. (I have no Idea how to embed video).

I am a big fan,  and Jack White was touring with Loretta Lynn, so he gets cool points just for that.

Nothing is wrong with you. You simply do not live entirely in the past. I listen to eveything from Classical, 50s, 60,s, 70s, Jazz, and Hip Hop. Oh yeah, I do listen to Country. That is why I have Sirius/XM in all the cars.

Is emo more than one emu?

I'm liking Amy Correia lately.  Sort of a female Tom Waits in that she's a good story teller.  Especially her first album.
I don't hear anyone doing real blues these days... I like Keb Mo is good, though.

Kings of Leon from their second album, more country twangy fast paced, it has a couple of "slower" songs that are really good such as Milk, Rememo, and Day Old Blues. Any way I like all the Kings of Leon have done, I like when a band evolves.

This is probably my favorite contemporary band. Two Gallants. Two dudes, three insturments, good music.

and if you have the patients...

These guys will play any place for any reason. Very cool, very talented band.

Hey toycollector, I did not see any emo's in the band or the audience.  I didn't hear anything about slicing thier wrists with razor blades either.

So, I think your doing ok, lol.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I went to highschool with those guys. They're good people, the music is good,  I just can't seem to get past his voice.
Cafe Racing is mainly a matter of taste. It is an atavistic mentality, a peculiar mix of low style, high speed, pure dumbness, and overweening commitment to the Cafe Life and all its dangerous pleasures. I am a Cafe Racer myself, on some days - and it is one of my finest addictions. ~H. S. Thompson~

Quite possibly my favorite band ever is Neutral Milk Hotel.

They are not for everyone. I think they are good, very good lyrics, very good music. Just a good band.

Is that your blue K0 on eVilbay at the moment?
