Funny Coincidence
« on: January 13, 2009, 03:44:54 PM »
I thought someone might be entertained by this story....

A funny thing happened the other day.  My wife and I were over at my parents house going through a bunch of old family pictures and 8mm movies left behind by a great aunt that passed away.

I found a pretty picture of a 79 CB650 with some scrawny kid hanging onto the back.  I showed it to my dad and he pointed out that the scrawny kid was me  ::)  This was at some family reunion that I went to when I was 4 or 5 years old (probably 1985).  I have vague memories of riding on the back of a bike, but I couldn't have told you anything other than that.  This was the ONLY time that I ever touched a motorcycle prior to picking up my first bike in 2002.  It's also amazing that my dad let me sit on the back of a motorcycle, being that both of my parents were extremely safety conscious  :P

What struck me as a funny coincidence was that I only touched a motorcycle once in 22 years (even then I was too young to remember much about it),  and the first bike that I bought and learn to ride was a 1980 CB650.  Of all the bikes out there, it's weird that I ended up with almost the exact same bike that I got to take a ride on in 1985.

It must have stuck in my subconscious  ;D

Only barely  ;D

What's even funnier is that I also found a picture of my Dad on a nice Blue CB750.  I think it was a 1975.  I berated him for not holding onto it and giving it to me  :D

Cheers...Joe

No that's Bob Log III..... :o

Actually, it's the Husband of my fathers aunt's niece.... I think.....in-other-words, he's some guy that I never really knew.
I thought about contacting him to see if that 650's still in a barn somewhere.

Maybe I could get him to give it to me for nostalgia's sake   ;D

Cheers...Joe
